【Application of Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose for tile adhesive 】
1.Water retention: HPMC has the ability to absorb and retain water. In tile adhesive formulations, it helps to prolong the open time, which is the period during which the adhesive remains workable after application. By retaining water, HPMC prevents premature drying of the adhesive, allowing sufficient time for tile placement and adjustment.
2.Rheology modification: HPMC can modify the rheological properties of tile adhesive, improving its workability and consistency. It imparts pseudoplastic behavior, meaning that the adhesive's viscosity decreases when subjected to shear forces during application, making it easier to spread. However, once the shear force is removed, the viscosity increases, preventing tile sagging or slumping.
3.Adhesive strength and bond formation: HPMC enhances the adhesive strength of tile adhesive by acting as a binder and improving the bond formation between the adhesive and the substrate. It forms a film during the drying process, promoting adhesion and preventing the tile from detaching from the substrate.
